While we're running behind in Missouri (where Mother Nature socked us with a month of rain), we're still looking at some amazing numbers: Cropping about 19,000 acres in four states, yielding more than 80,000 tons of high-quality silage. We were able to start harvesting our first-crop alfalfa before the rain set in on Central Wisconsin this weekend. We're relying on three choppers, three mergers and two triple-mowers. We'll now leave it to grow before our second harvest in 28 days. If Mother Nature is cooperative this year, we anticipate 4 to 5 cuttings on that field this season.
