Life In A Kangaroo Pouch

A baby kangaroos, or Joey, is born after a pregnancy that lasts just 36 days. Weighing less than a gram, the baby Joey will stay in its mother’s pouch for between eight and ten months when it then begins to explore its immediate surroundings by leaving the pouch for short periods. A baby red kangaroo, called a joey, is born incredibly tiny, about the size of a jellybean. Right after birth, she crawls into her mother’s pouch, where she stays safe and warm while growing. At around six months old, she begins to peek her head out of the pouch, observing the world around her. This stage is both adorable and an important part of her development. By seven to eight months, the joey starts hopping out for short moments, exploring nearby before diving back into the pouch whenever s
